Strength & Reinforcement

For many products, cast stone's typical strength of 35Nmm is enough. However, for some items, such as heads, cills over a certain length and portico beams, extra reinforcement is required.

The extra strength is given by placing steel inside the stone during the manufacturing process. The steels are located carefully to conform with strict guidelines and here at Thorverton Stone we use an independant structural engineer to verify the quantity of steel needed and performance of the stone when cured.
